Ardor provides credits through various grant programs with different characteristics and expiration rules. Understanding how these grants work will help you maximize your usage efficiency and take advantage of available programs.

Types of Credit Grants

1. Plan Credits (Monthly Grants)

Plan credits are monthly allocations tied to your subscription plan. These are automatically granted each billing cycle.

  • Monthly reset - Credits are renewed each billing cycle
  • No rollover - Unused grant credits are lost at cycle end
Plan credits automatically reset on your billing date and do not accumulate month-to-month.

2. Grant Credits

Grant credits are additional credits provided through various programs and promotions beyond your plan allocation. Key characteristics:
  • Variable amounts - Grant values depend on the specific program
  • Custom expiration dates - Each grant has its own validity period
  • Specific terms - May have usage restrictions based on the program
  • Application-based - Some grants require applying to programs
Grant credits are provided at Ardor’s discretion through various programs. Each grant has unique terms and expiration dates based on the specific program that issued it.

Credit Usage Priority

When you use Ardor services, credits are automatically deducted following this priority order:

Priority Order (First → Last)

  1. 🟢 Plan Credits (Monthly) - Used first
  2. 🟡 Grant Credits - Used second
  3. 🔵 Purchased Credits - Used last
Purchased credits are not grants - they are credits you buy to top-up your account and don’t expire.
This priority system maximizes value by using time-limited grants before permanent purchased credits.

Deduction Example

Your credit balance:
  • $15 remaining plan credits (grant)
  • $10 grant credits (promotional/program grants)
  • $25 purchased credits (bought by user)
Usage scenario: $30 worth of actions
  1. First $15 Deducted from plan credits (balance: $0)
  2. Next $10 Deducted from grant credits (balance: $0)
  3. Final $5 Deducted from purchased credits (balance: $20)

How do I know when my grants expire?

Grant expiration dates are displayed in your Console dashboard under the credit breakdown section.

Do unused grants roll over?

  • Plan credits - Reset monthly and do not roll over
  • Credit grants - Have custom expiration dates, do not roll over

Can I get more grants?

  • Plan credits - Increase by upgrading your subscription plan
  • Credit grants - Apply for student, startup, or partner programs when available

What happens when I run out of credits?

  • Free Plan: All services become unavailable until next month’s grant renewal
  • Paid Plans: You can purchase additional credits to continue usage immediately

Do grants have usage restrictions?

No, all grants can be used for any Ardor services - Copilot actions, compute resources, storage, or any other platform features.

How are different grants prioritized?

All grant types (plan credits, bonus credits, program grants) are used before any purchased credits, following the order: Plan Credits → Grant Credits → Purchased Credits.
